NEWSROOMEmpower the next: a grand function held to handover cameras

A grand function organized by Ministry of Economic Development, in collaboration with the TVET Authority of the Ministry of Education, was held at Dharubaaruge on 1 February, 2017, to handover cameras to TVET students who are undergoing photography training. The ceremony was attended by dignitaries including President Adulla Yameen Abdul Qayyoom, who was the Chief Guest.

It has been a successful follow-up of the initial launch of the photography training initiative to train 1000 photographers on 25 April, 2016. The ceremony was held at Rannaban’deyri Hall of Dharubaaruge with a packed diverse audience of many sectors of the society including many photography trainees.

Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Shiham and Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed delivered speeches highlighting the significance of the event. In her speech, Minister of Education noted the commitment of President himself for such initiatives to empower the youth to prepare them to be job-ready.

Minster of Economic Development offered hope for the Photography trainees with the announcement of overseas training opportunities for the best 100 students to study at higher levels. He also assured of job prospects for the successful trainees.

A display of photos taken by trainees was arranged at the venue, which was inspected by President. The event was kick started after the President honored the trainees on stage who then clicked their cameras in unison to take a photo of the audience.
